Malaysia has launched its second National Energy Efficiency Policy and Action Plan 2026–2035 (NEEAP 2.0), a comprehensive decade-long strategy designed to reshape how the nation consumes energy. Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir unveiled the initiative at the 7th International Sustainable Energy Summit in Kuala Lumpur, positioning energy efficiency as a cornerstone of Malaysia's economic competitiveness and environmental responsibility. The plan represents a significant acceleration of the government's commitment to sustainable energy management, building on lessons learned from the previous decade's efforts.

The ambitions embedded in NEEAP 2.0 are substantial. The policy framework targets cumulative utility savings of RM85.24 billion over the ten-year horizon, alongside a reduction in national energy demand of 11.6 per cent.
