Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has urged MADANI Communities throughout the country to shoulder the responsibility of ensuring citizens receive accurate and reliable information regarding government policies, programmes and accomplishments. Speaking at the Jiwa MADANI programme in Kota Bharu on June 16, Fahmi stressed that this task should be a shared effort rather than resting entirely with official bodies such as the Information Department (JAPEN) and the Community Communications Department (J-KOM).
Fahmi highlighted several key government achievements that warrant wider public awareness. He pointed to food security measures, including efforts to maintain adequate rice stocks ahead of major celebrations through programmes run by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. He also referenced the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System (eCOSS), administered by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, which has made subsidised cooking oil more accessible to consumers after previous scarcity issues.
"These accomplishments under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's administration represent the kind of outcomes that MADANI Communities must actively communicate to the grassroots," Fahmi stated. During the event, he presented appointment letters to Kelantan MADANI Community leaders for the 2026-2027 term, marking the formal recognition of their roles.
The Communications Ministry plans to conduct regular information sessions designed to keep community leaders abreast of pressing matters and policy developments requiring grassroots dissemination. In parallel, JAPEN has been assigned the task of evaluating how effectively MADANI Communities are performing their information-sharing duties at the local level.
Fahmi made clear that underperforming units would face consequences. "JAPEN will be instructed to act decisively against any inactive MADANI Community, with replacements made where necessary," he said, underscoring the ministry's commitment to maintaining the network's operational standards and responsiveness.
